CLIENT CASE STUDY

From traditional accountancy marketing to bold, human, full-circle support

Evolve 360 Accounting Ltd came to Wing Woman Plus at a point where the business was growing, but their accountancy marketing still looked more like the firm they thought they should be than the business they actually were.

Emma and Simon are warm, straight-talking, highly skilled and deeply human. Their clients value the way they explain things, solve problems and make the financial side of running a business feel less terrifying.

Our job was to make sure the marketing showed that too.

The result?

More enquiries from their ideal SME and limited company clients, clearer packages, better-fit conversations, stronger local visibility and enough demand that the business reached capacity and needed to hire.

Client: Evolve 360 Accounting Ltd

Sector: Accountancy, bookkeeping and financial strategy

Location: Bedfordshire/Cambridgeshire, supporting local and national clients

Support provided: Brand positioning, messaging, website direction, social content, local visibility, content strategy, package clarity, Google Business Profile thinking and ongoing marketing support

The back story

When we first started working with Evolve, the business was following a lot of the conventions you see across professional services.

Formal language. Formal imagery. Suits. Their accountancy marketing looked credible, but it wasn’t yet showing the warmth, humour and practical support that clients experienced when they worked with Emma and Simon.

Their clients already knew Evolve differently.

They knew the warmth, humour, flexibility and proper care behind the business. They knew Emma and Simon would explain things clearly, answer the questions that felt silly and help them make confident financial decisions.

The marketing needed to make all of that much more visible.

Evolve also wanted to attract more SMEs and limited companies looking for ongoing, full-circle accountancy support.

Those clients needed help across things like:

  • bookkeeping
  • tax
  • Making Tax Digital
  • quarterly returns
  • director strategy
  • dividends
  • financial planning
  • ongoing business support

So the focus became clear:

Getting clear on the clients Evolve wanted more of

We started by sharpening the positioning.

Evolve wanted to attract SME and limited company clients who valued joined-up accountancy support and an ongoing relationship.

Getting clearer on that audience gave the wider marketing much stronger commercial direction.

It helped us make better decisions around:

  • the kind of enquiries we wanted the marketing to generate
  • the packages
  • the messaging
  • the website
  • content topics
  • local visibility

Sharpening the positioning

We developed Evolve’s accountancy marketing positioning as:

A practical, human, full-circle accountancy partner for SMEs and limited companies.

The messaging became clearer, warmer and more specific.

We also encouraged Emma and Simon to show up more confidently as the people behind the business, because their personality is already one of the reasons clients trust them.

The strategy focused on making Evolve more recognisable, easier to understand and easier to trust.

Making the brand feel more like Evolve

Evolve already had a recognisable logo built around the idea of evolution, with figures showing the evolution of the human race.

We kept the heart of that idea and brought more colour, warmth and energy into the wider brand.

The visual direction became brighter and more human, while still feeling credible and professional.

The aim was to make the brand feel accessible, flexible and memorable, while properly reflecting the people behind it.

Creating clearer packages

One of the big pieces of work was helping Evolve explain what they actually offer in a way that felt easier for clients to understand.

Accountancy can become complicated quickly, especially when people are dealing with tax, company structures, dividends, Making Tax Digital and ongoing bookkeeping.

One of the key lines we landed on was:

“Got a financial freakout brewing? Let’s talk.”

That sentence tells you a lot about Evolve.

It feels useful, human and reassuring. It gives people permission to ask for help without making finance feel intimidating.

Finding a tone of voice that sounded like them

  • straight-talking
  • inclusive
  • accessible
  • practical
  • warm
  • occasionally funny
  • full of real value and expertise

Giving the content a clear job

We created content pillars that gave Evolve’s accountancy marketing more structure, while still allowing them to show the different sides of the business.

1. Behind the books

This is the people-led pillar.

It shows the heart and hustle behind the spreadsheets.

It includes team stories, day-in-the-life content, behind-the-scenes moments, relatable finance memes and Emma explaining things face-to-camera with warmth and wit.

2. No Fuss. Just Finances

This is the practical advice pillar.

It helps clients understand things like Making Tax Digital, VAT, bookkeeping, year-end, payroll and cash flow.

The aim is to make finance feel clearer and more manageable through honest, useful advice.

3. People before Paperwork

This is the values-led pillar.

It shows Evolve’s commitment to inclusion, transparency and doing things properly, for both clients and the people inside the business.

It covers accessibility, flexible working, neurodivergent-friendly practices and client stories that show the personal and business impact of Evolve’s support.

Building local visibility

A big part of the strategy was strengthening Evolve’s local presence.

They support clients across the UK, but local trust is powerful.

We supported the strategic side of showing up in local Facebook groups, increasing visibility across the St Neots and Cambridgeshire business community and helping people understand why Evolve should be the name they recommend when someone asks for an accountant.

Over time, that trust started showing up very clearly.

When people ask for accountant recommendations in local Facebook groups, Evolve are regularly recommended by clients and contacts.

That kind of advocacy is powerful marketing proof.

Making content easier to manage

Before working with us, there was the familiar “what do we post now?” pressure.

We created a clearer rhythm.

Content was planned, written, designed and scheduled in advance, taking away the need to constantly invent something on the spot.

The content pillars also meant everything had a purpose.

Posts could:

  • build trust
  • increase visibility
  • explain the offer
  • demonstrate expertise
  • show the people behind the business
  • help potential clients understand whether Evolve was right for them

Using video to build trust for accountancy marketing

Accountancy can be difficult to explain through written posts alone.

We helped Evolve use video as part of the content mix, giving people a chance to see and hear Emma explain things in her own voice.

That matters when someone is choosing an accountant.

They are trusting someone with important, sometimes stressful, financial decisions.

Seeing the person behind the expertise helps build that confidence earlier.

The work helped Evolve attract more enquiries from their ideal clients.

The enquiries became a much better fit for the business.

More SME and limited company clients were approaching Evolve already understanding the value of ongoing support and looking for a full-circle accountancy relationship.

That also meant less time spent on conversations that were never going to be a good fit.

Clearer positioning meant clearer enquiries.

Clearer packages made conversations easier.

The clearer accountancy marketing helped potential clients understand Evolve earlier, before they ever booked a call.

Better visibility helped build trust before the sales process had even started.

Over time, demand grew to the point where Evolve reached capacity and needed to hire someone to support the next stage of the business.

The social proof

One of the strongest signs of trust is what people say when you are not in the room.

For Evolve, that shows up regularly in local Facebook groups, where clients and contacts recommend Emma, Simon and the team when someone asks for an accountant.

The same trust appears across their Google Business Profile, with a strong bank of five-star client feedback.

Evolve have also become brilliant advocates for Wing Woman Plus, recommending us locally, through Google reviews and within their own business and accountancy networks.

That relationship works both ways because the trust is genuine.

The performance proof

The content performance backed up the strategic direction.

Emma’s personal LinkedIn profile reached more than 10,000 impressions across March to May.

The more human, emotive and people-led content repeatedly performed strongly, including posts around inclusivity, behind-the-scenes moments, practical finance advice and myth-busting.

Our reports showed that witty, useful and conversational content generated more comments and shares than standard business updates.

The content that felt most like Evolve was the content people responded to.

Why this accountancy marketing approach worked

Evolve already had the expertise, personality and client care.

We gave those strengths more structure and made them easier for potential clients to see.

The business became:

  • more confident
  • more visible
  • more specific
  • more useful
  • more human

Their personality became part of the strategy because it was already one of the reasons clients trusted them.

And for a business like Evolve, trust is everything.

What other service businesses can take from this

If you run a founder-led service business, your marketing needs to help people understand why they should trust you.

That means getting clear on:

  • who you really want to work with
  • what those people need from you
  • how you explain your value
  • what makes your approach distinctive
  • how your content builds trust before someone books a call
  • how your brand feels when someone first finds you

Your marketing should make the strongest version of your business easier to see, understand and choose.

That is where better-fit clients start to find you.

Three questions to help you decide

1. Does your marketing still reflect the business you’re running now?

Businesses change. Teams grow, services evolve and the kind of clients you want can shift.

If your website, social content or messaging still reflects an earlier version of the business, people may be getting the wrong picture before they ever speak to you.

2. Are you attracting the kind of work you actually want more of?

More enquiries only help when they are the right enquiries.

If you’re constantly explaining what you do, turning away poor-fit work or attracting small jobs when you want longer-term clients, your positioning may need some attention.

3. Does your marketing sound like the people clients actually meet?

For founder-led businesses, trust starts before the first conversation.

Your website, content and messaging should give people a real sense of how you think, how you work and why they might feel comfortable choosing you.

Most businesses don’t come to us saying:

“Our positioning architecture requires refinement.”

They usually say something more like:

“Our marketing doesn’t really feel like us anymore.”

Or:

“We’re doing loads, but I’m not sure it’s bringing in the right work.”

Sometimes the business has grown faster than the marketing.

Sometimes the website, brand and content have all evolved separately. Sometimes everything looks perfectly fine, but the enquiries still aren’t quite right.

You don’t need to diagnose the problem before you speak to us.

Tell us what feels off, what kind of work you want more of and where the business is heading.

We’ll help you work out what needs attention and what the sensible next step looks like.

No. Evolve is an accountancy business, but these challenges show up across all kinds of founder-led service businesses.

We work with businesses that need clearer positioning, stronger messaging and marketing that properly reflects how they work.

Yes. Clear strategy, audience and messaging give whoever is creating the content much stronger direction.

We can help create that direction, work alongside your existing team or support the wider marketing where needed.

That’s absolutely fine.

Evolve already had a recognisable visual identity. Our work focused on strengthening how that brand showed up across the messaging, content, packages and wider marketing.

Yes. Our work can include positioning, messaging, websites, email, content, Google Business Profile, local visibility, campaigns and wider marketing planning.

The right mix depends on your business and how your customers actually find and choose you.

Usually, no. We look at what already works, what feels disconnected and what may be getting in the way.

Some businesses need a broader strategic reset. Others need a few important changes applied consistently.

Yes.

We’re based in St Neots and work with businesses locally and across the UK. Most strategy, content and ongoing marketing support can be delivered remotely.
